Greta Gerwig's Revelations About Margot Robbie on Stephen Colbert's Show

Barbie director Greta Gerwig recently unveiled an intriguing detail about Margot Robbie during her appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

During their conversation earlier this week, Colbert and Gerwig discussed their individual areas of challenge, with Gerwig admitting her struggle with "speechmaking."

"Oh, I have something akin to that with Margot Robbie," shared Gerwig.

Praising Robbie's multifaceted talents, Gerwig expressed, "Margot excels at virtually everything she puts her mind to."

"She's incredibly versatile, capable of shedding a tear from just one eye if asked. That's the caliber of person she is. Plus, she's stunningly beautiful," remarked the Ladybird director.

Gerwig humorously disclosed, "Oddly enough, my favorite thing about her is that she's not particularly skilled at singing."

The director recounted an instance during the filming of Barbie when she encouraged Robbie to sing the Indigo Girls' "Closer To Fine."

"I challenged her, and she was hesitant, saying, 'Please don't make me.' But I loved it; I wanted her voice to be bold," explained Gerwig.

She added, "I even directed the sound editors to intentionally pitch-correct her."

In other news, the Cannes Film Festival recently announced Greta Gerwig as the jury president for 2024. Notably, she's set to become the first American female director to hold this esteemed position in the festival's history.
