Jessica Chastain has openly credited Taylor Swift for helping her through a previous breakup, revealing the thoughtful gesture on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
During her appearance on Friday's show, the 46-year-old Scenes from a Marriage actress recalled meeting Swift, 34, for the first time at the 2011 Met Gala. Chastain described how she and Swift, seated next to each other, engaged in a conversation where she shared details about her recent breakup.
Recalling the night, Chastain expressed, “We were both sitting next to each other, and she was so sweet. I just went through a break-up, and I was talking to her about that. We went and danced together — it was such a fun night.”
Chastain then revealed the unexpected gesture from Swift the following day. She received an email from iTunes that she initially presumed was about a Taylor Swift album, only to discover it was a curated breakup playlist created by Swift herself. Chastain was deeply touched, calling it "the sweetest thing."
She shared the story with Fallon, emphasizing how she had mistaken the iTunes email to be an advertisement but was surprised to find a supportive playlist designed by Swift to help her cope with the breakup.
Impressed, Fallon responded, "What are you kidding me? That’s unbelievable!"
Chastain also mentioned meeting her future husband Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo in 2012, although she didn’t specify the person she broke up with in 2011. The couple has been happily married since 2017.
Expressing her ongoing support for Swift, Chastain's recent visit backstage at Swift's Eras tour earlier this year was showcased by Fallon, indicating their enduring friendship and support for each other over the years.
