According to a royal pro, the trouble over Prince Harry's baby name is causing more issues between him and his separated family.
In a new book called Charles III: New King. New Court, it was revealed that Queen Elizabeth was "angry" when she found out that Harry and Meghan Markle had named their second child, Princess Lilibet, in June 2021. The name was meant to honor the late Queen’s childhood nickname. Still, a Buckingham Palace worker told royal writer Robert Hardman that the Queen wasn't happy about the supposed tribute mentioned in the new book.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who also have 4-year-old Prince Archie, supposedly got the Queen's approval to name their daughter Lilibet. However, insiders now claim that the couple surprised the Royal Family by choosing the name in honor of the Queen and as a sweet nod to Harry's late mom, Diana.
Back in 2015, there was no big fuss when Prince William and Kate Middleton named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, after both the Queen and the Princess of Wales. Even though Charlotte was said to be a tribute to William's father Charles, the couple didn't get into a big argument over their daughter's name, unlike Harry and Meghan.
Royal expert Afua Hagan criticized the comments in the new book as "mean" and said this new scandal will only "make those tensions worse" between Harry and his estranged family. "It's a bit mean really because she's only little, and it's the baby's name. At the time, and I feel it now, it's quite sweet to name someone after their grandmother," she told Newsweek.
She said the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's gesture was "sweet," but we'll never know if the Queen was upset about them using her childhood nickname "because she's not here with us anymore and so will never go on record saying one thing or the other." This discussion has undoubtedly made the argument between Harry and his family more bitter and will create "more divisions between Prince Harry and the rest of his family unfortunately," as well as make any chance of reconciliation smaller.
