Kelly Clarkson recently shared her lighthearted reaction to Patrick Dempsey being named PEOPLE's S-xiest Man Alive for 2023. During an interview with Access Hollywood, the American Idol alum playfully quipped, "He has great hair" when asked about the Grey's Anatomy actor's new title.
Upon learning that this was Dempsey's first time receiving the S-xiest Man Alive honor, Clarkson expressed surprise, saying, "That’s so shocking to me that Patrick has never had it before." She humorously remarked that she thought it would have been "like a second or third around" for him and playfully added, "We really messed that one up."
Acknowledging Dempsey's ageless charm, Clarkson said, "You know what? He’s ageing like a fine wine."
Patrick Dempsey, 51, had previously shared his shock at being named S-xiest Man Alive, noting that he had always been the bridesmaid and finding it amusing that he finally received the recognition. Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, Dempsey mentioned that while it gives his ego a little bump, he sees it as an opportunity to use the platform for something positive.
Regarding his children's response to his new status, Dempsey humorously shared, "They're just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn't be. Which is good, they keep me young."
